Georgina is a freelance writer, editor and proofreader with more than 10 years’ experience in journalism on consumer and b2b magazines. In the past, she has worked as a full-time staff member on a number of different titles, including Homes & Gardens, Good Homes, Cage & Aviary Birds, The Probe, Smile, Electrical Times, Hotel Specification International and Shopfitting Specification.
Since going freelance in October 2016, she has taken on a range of regular and on-going clients including holiday cover for the Chief Sub-Editor and Sub-Editor on Psychologies magazine, remote sub-editing trade and marketing reports for behavioural insights agency Canvas8, writing a series of bird books called Illustrated Wildlife of Britain, providing holiday cover for the editorial team on Cage & Aviary Birds magazine, proofreading and editing blog posts for The Parenting Chapter and writing a monthly newsletter for the LoveLocal Card.
Georgina’s skills include sub-editing and proofreading; magazine production; writing news stories and features for print magazines; copy editing and writing for the web, including blogs; basic social media management; search engine optimisation; content management systems; creating layouts in Adobe InDesign, and basic image manipulation in Photoshop.
When she isn’t working, Georgina enjoys spending time with her airplane-mad husband and young daughter, as well as close family and friends – and, of course, the family Golden Retriever Toby (pictured above). When she does get a moment to herself, she likes to watch films, read novels, write posts for her parenting blog Muddling Through Motherhood (www.muddlingthroughmotherhood.co.uk) and indulge in her guilty pleasure of stalking people on Instagram.
